The “Rykon Spinning Mill” is converted into a coppersmith’s and tinning shop owned by the Kindlimann brothers.

1999

50th Anniversary of the invention of the spring-loaded valve that defines high-quality new generation pressure cookers. This valve was invented by Jacques Kuhn in Switzerland.

1926

Heinrich Kuhn buys the “Rykon Spinning Mill”.

1999

KRUSA moved its headquarters from Connecticut to California wine country.

1927

New electric stoves require a new kind of cookware. Under the Duro trademark, Heinrich Kuhn develops the first successful cookware.

2001

Kuhn Rikon celebrates its 75th anniversary. Heinrich Kuhn Metallwarenfabrik becomes Kuhn Rikon.

1932

Heinrich Kuhn prematurely passes away and his 18-year-old son, Henri, takes over the management.

2001

Introduced Thermal Cooking to the US market, with its Swiss Durotherm Cookware. This method traps heat inside so food can cook on low or off in the stove in its own moisture.

1947

Henri’s younger brother, Jacques – who was an engineer - joins the company as technical director.

2002

Introduced the Epicurean Garlic Press, with a special new lever that reduced the force needed to press garlic. It was designed in the USA by Michael Cousins.

1949

Development of the DUROMATIC pressure cooker. This product is an instant hit, its name soon becoming synonymous with all pressure cookers. This highly successful product also becomes the company’s first export.

2006

Kuhn Rikon sets up a museum in its factory about the evolution of cooking.

1969

Henri Kuhn dies at the early age of 55. Jacques Kuhn takes over the sole management of the company.

2006

Introduced the innovative stainless steel Corn Zipper, still one of our best-selling products.

1975

The first double-walled cookware with the triple benefits: Cooking, serving, warming is patented and introduced to the worldwide market under the brand name Durotherm.

2006

Introduced its top selling Colori® line—Paring Knife. Credited with being the first company to place a colorful FDA-approved nonstick coating on its ultra-sharp Japanese steel blade.

1976

Kuhn Rikon celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2009

Kuhn Rikon USA sells its 20 millionth Original Swiss Peeler.

1984

Jacques Kuhn hands over the reins to Dr. Wolfgang Auwärter-Kuhn and Hans-Heinrich Kuhn.

2011

The Duromatic® Relax power steamer – a fully automatic pressure cooker for installation in the kitchen – is released in Europe.

1987

Kuhn Rikon becomes the first Swiss consumer goods manufacturer to receive the SQS quality certificate from the Swiss Association for Quality Assurance.

2011

Introduced the Ratchet Grinder, which features a ratchet handle that when moved back and forth it grinds spices with ease.

1988

Kuhn Rikon founded to sell the #1 brand of Swiss cookware and cooks’ tools in the USA.

2012

Introduced the Kochblume® Spill Stopper, a flexible and sturdy silicone lid that prevents boiling liquids from spilling or overflowing on the stovetop.

1995

Kuhn Rikon USA begins initiating new product ideas geared toward the American market. These ideas have included a wide range of kitchen tools now sold worldwide.

2013

Kuhn Rikon USA celebrates 25th Anniversary and expands headquarters.

2014

Kuhn Rikon USA sells its 20 millionth Safety LidLifter®.
