Natural materials such as wood and leather in combination with natural stones and concrete are totally on trend. Concrete is a fascinating, living material. And one of the few, whose surface requires no further enhancement after being given its final form. It's structure is
unique and, even using the exact same process, unreproducible. Its appearance is always different. Just like a fingerprint. This makes every piece unique. Air pockets and differing shades are natural properties of the product, which increases individual value. As a natural material, concrete ages gracefully and, over time, develops an attractive patina.
The HOTPAN® Monument breaks with popular assumptions about how an item of cookware should look and what material it is made of. It connects the fields of cooking and living in a stimulating way and is simply – brutally beautiful!
Concrete is produced following a quite definite recipe. From cement, water, sand and gravel results a building material that can be poured into any shape. Concrete is durable and can be reused – the HOTPAN® Monument bowl consists of 25% recycled material.
This attracts more and more designers and interior designers to use this natural material in creating living spaces, furniture or beautifully shaped objects with a genuine, idiosyncratic surface. Just like any natural product, concrete comes alive with the differences in the structure. This is what makes it so full of character in appearance.
Every bowl is hand-poured by an experienced caster. Production capacity is limited and makes the individual product into a unique piece to fall in love with. Of course, the bowl also has the tried and tested HOTPAN® functions: gentle cooking with an energy saving of 60% as well as keeping warm for up to 2 hours. The insulation properties of the concrete bowls are outstanding. Integrated grip recesses facilitate picking up, Stoppers on the base protect sensitive surfaces from scratches and ensure the bowl sits securely. The thin wall looks delicate but is at the same time very stable.
Genuine Kuhn Rikon Swiss quality endures.

The bowl does just as well in the kitchen as on the dining table or in the living room and can be used versatilely: for serving cold dishes and showcasing bread rolls, yummy snacks or vegetable sticks or for storing fruit, vegetables or nuts in style.

Heat the sunflower oil in a pan and sear the beef fillet steaks at a high heat for 1 minute per side. Place on baking paper, tie with string and keep ready.
Heat the olive oil in the HOTPAN®. Sauté the onions, add the vegetables and douse with the lemon juice and white wine. Boil rapidly until the liquid has evaporated, then add the water, bay leaves, clove, sage leaves, salt and black pepper. Place the lid on the pan and turn the heat back up until the pan is full of steam. Now turn the heat down low, twist the closed lid 90°, and continue to cook for 5 minutes.
Place the beef parcels on top of the vegetables, put the lid back on and turn up the heat again until there is lots of steam. Now place the pan in the insulating bowl for a further 15 minutes. Serve with the vegetables and the garlic butter.
